Please check out Verity Credit Union, our great partner in the 100 Bands in 100 Days local music showcase.
Music fans of the Pacific Northwest, get ready for our sixth annual year-end daily local music showcase, 100 Bands in 100 Days, where every day until December 31st, we’ll be showcasing a new band or artist you have to know about. For the fourth year in a row, the showcase is once again presented by Verity Credit Union.
Make sure you are checking the #100Bands100Days hashtag on Twitter on a daily basis to stay on top of all the bands featured and be sure to follow Verity and NW_Music_Scene on there. Some days the featured act could be an established and locally-adored northwest-based musician and other times they could be a band with a small following that just hasn’t had their deserved time in the spotlight yet. Either way, we’re fairly confident you can come away from this daily segment with plenty of new favorites. Today’s featured act is Mirrorgloss.
About the band:
Although we are just a few days into this fall thing, if you already find yourself dealing with the dreaded seasonal doldrums, perhaps a little bit of a danceable pick-me-up music is just what the doctor ordered to help get you out of the funk. Tacoma’s Mirrorgloss should provide everything you need to get the blood pumping to all your extremities.
Najah Monique Todd and Del Brown make up the dance-pop duo Mirrorgloss, formed in 2012 in Tacoma, Washington, the two established a unique sound with their decision to focus on their vocal pairing as the foundation of their musical creation. The pair complement each other with the combination of Najamoniq’s soulful vocals interweaved with the edgier sounds of Del. The result is a dynamic sound that is truly inspiring.
The look of the band is as refreshing as their art, citing influences as eclectic as Jeff Buckley, Death From Above 1979, The Pretenders. and The Gossip. As stylish plus-sized ladies, Mirrorgloss supports and promotes all types of beauty, not just acceptance of, but the celebration of one’s self. The ladies of Mirrorgloss believe that sisterhood is less about competition, but is more related to the strengthening of a foundation upon which we can all stand and encourage each other’s success.
Having found a kindred spirit in one another, the ladies of Mirrorgloss feel fortunate to be traveling on this journey of creativity and self-expression together as best friends. Their captivating friendship radiates love and light, their music inspires freedom and movement, allowing fans to be a part of an uplifting, fun and “inclusive” dance party where everyone is invited.
Listen and watch below and get ready to move your body. We dig them and you will too!
